چکیده

A halotolerant, non-spore-forming actinobacterium was isolated from a soil sample from the west of China. The strain, designated YIM 70093(T) (=CCTCC AA 001024(T)=DSM 44683(T)), comprised Gram-positive, non-motile, diphtheroid and irregular rods. It grew in 0-25 % KCl (KCl could be substituted by NaCl or MgCl(2).6H(2)O), with optimum growth at 10 % KCl, and its optimal pH and cultivation temperature were 7.2 and 28 degrees C, respectively. On the basis of its morphological, physiological and phylogenetic characteristics, strain YIM 70093(T) should be classified in the genus CORYNEBACTERIUM: However, it is sufficiently different from hitherto described Corynebacterium species to be considered as a novel species, for which the name Corynebacterium halotolerans sp. nov. is proposed.

Marinococcus halotolerans sp. nov., isolated from Qinghai, north-west China.

An aerobic bacterium was isolated from saline soil located in Qinghai, north-west China. The bacterium, designated YIM 70157(T), was investigated using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. The Gram reaction of the organism was positive. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis demonstrated the isolate to be a member of the genus Marinococcus, the closest phylogenetic neighbour of the unknown bac...

Microbacterium halotolerans sp. nov., isolated from a saline soil in the west of China.

A Gram-positive short rod isolated from a saline soil in China was characterized using a polyphasic approach. This actinobacterium grew over a wide salinity range [0-15 % NaCl, 0-20 % KCl and 0-30 % (MgCl2).6H2O (w/v); optimum concentrations for growth were 5 % NaCl, 5-10 % KCl, 10 % (MgCl2).6H2O]. The optimum growth temperature and pH were 28-30 degrees C and 7.0-8.0, respectively. Chemotaxono...

Genome sequence of the halotolerant bacterium Corynebacterium halotolerans type strain YIM 70093T (= DSM 44683T)

Corynebacterium halotolerans Chen et al. 2004 is a member of the genus Corynebacterium which contains Gram-positive bacteria with a high G+C content. C. halotolerans, isolated from a saline soil, belongs to the non-lipophilic, non-pathogenic corynebacteria. It displays a high tolerance to salts (up to 25%) and is related to the pathogenic corynebacteria C. freneyi and C. xerosis. As this is a t...

Corynebacterium marinum sp. nov. isolated from coastal sediment.

A taxonomic study was performed on strain D7015T, which was isolated from coastal sediment close to a coal-fired power station in Qingdao, China. Cells of strain D7015T were Gram-positive, non-motile, diphtheroid rods that grew in the presence of 0-8% (w/v) NaCl and at 4-37 degrees C, with optimum growth at 1% (w/v) NaCl and 30-32 degrees C. The DNA G+C content was 65.0 mol%. The major fatty ac...

A novel coccoid, halotolerant actinobacterium, designated strain YIM 70085(T), was isolated from a soil sample that was collected in Xinjiang Province, China, and characterized by using a polyphasic approach. Optimum growth temperature was 28 degrees C and growth occurred optimally in culture media that contained 10 % KCl. The peptidoglycan type was A4alpha, L-lys-gly-L-Glu. Whole-cell sugars c...
